In order to build these structures, I used a combination of coils, cubes, and spheres. While I didn’t have a theme as I was working, I wanted each sculpture to have its elements blend into the each other. One thing I did struggle with, however, was creating consistently smooth textures on the sculptures’ surface.

Zach, with this clay, the only way to smooth the surface is first with a wood modeling tool then following up with your thumb or the soft pad of your hand.
I think this piece is very intricate and abstract but I agree with Professor Gans that it would look more uniform and finished if it was smoothed out all around.
