This is such a unique shape to have originated from the rectangular block we were provided with. There is such a movement upwards and downwards in the first side view. It has a skeletal quality to its design as well.
I like this carving a lot. Each orientation lends itself to a different interpretation of the overall piece. When you go to capture the different orientations for the final upload, I would like to see the circular opening (that’s currently posted on the bottom row) captured vertically. Try not to just capture the opening, but also the overall structure with respect to that hole. I had no idea that the carving had an opening and maybe with this different angle it can lead to a different interpretation. But overall, great job!
I love how you were able to take your first carving and turn it into your second. The second feels very organic to me, and my first thought about it from the first two pictures is that it looks almost volcanic in a way, with the carved in lines being lava coming out from it. Also in some of the photos it reminds me of a shark tooth. I think it’s very interesting how you were able to make it so organic in very different senses.
I love your first piece! for me my first thought is that it looks like a volcano has exploded and exposed a ribcage inside the mountain ( I know this sounds very weird.) I think its amazing how you were able to use the scraps of your first piece to create it as well
