I chose to install this in the middle of the side walk so that it would force people to stop and notice the trash. I walk on my street almost everyday to Dunkin and I see the trash but it doesn’t inconvenience me so I don’t REALLY see it. Afterword I went and picked up a lot of the garbage around the bushes and once the flower blew away I went and picked up that garbage swell (with gloves). I messed around and tried to make it look like the flower was trying to grow out of the dirty bush but it was hard to photograph. I was very surprised by the variety of trash on the street which hopefully the flower also forces people to notice. There are majority bags and wrapper but also wires, necklaces and tar chunks.

I really love this piece because litter is a terrible issue in Bethlehem, and most people seem to ignore and/or contribute to it. I really like that you arranged the trash into the shape of a flower, because noticing the trash makes you think about the litter in general but the floral layout makes you think about how all the litter is impacting the wild life and nature of the city.
I love the idea you utilized trash into an interesting form. Those seemed unrelated objects works really well and looks satisfying. It would be a perfect piece telling people to stop throwing trash on the street.
