I LOVE how you improved your original root system. It adds another layer of the complexity of nature and does a great job illustrating what goes on underneath the mulch. The white rocks compliment the pink buds very well while still contrasting with the mulch. It might be cool to spider web off some little roots from the bigger roots to emulate the branches a little more. Great piece! I like that you re visited it too! I will go see it since I live on Birkel!
Now that the root-rock structure’s been filled out, I definitely see your original vision. The gray tones of the rocks contrast well with the soil and shadows while still blending well with the tree bark and pink leaves (which are very pretty). I’m also a fan of how your roots interact with the original tree’s shadows, especially in your 8th and 9th photos. Due to the rock’s colors, it reminds me of the yin-yang symbol and its idea of balance through contrasting absolutes, which the rest of your structure also embodies by giving a (manmade) view of the rocky root structure that probably contrasts tree’s flowery branches. Well done!
